Summary: Collection consists of the personal and political papers of Epifanio Vigil (1865-1900). The political papers contain several broadsides and clippings from various New Mexico periodicals. Broadsides include Donaciano Madrid's opposition to the election of Francisco Chavez as Sheriff of Santa Fe County, New Mexico (1891) and opposition to Oterista and Catronista republicans (1900). A translation of an article implicating Thomas B. Catron in the American Valley murder is also included along with Francisco A. Manazanares' annoucement of his withdrawal from politics (1881-1892). Vigil's personal papers include some correspondence, receipts, and an appointment as interpreter. Other items include the hijuelas of Donaciano and Melisendro Vigil from the estate of Cesaria Garica (1900), a printed attack on Jose Doroteo Sena titled "Judas" (1878), W.G. Ritch's circular concerning a defense strategy against the Apaches (1880), and records from the Democratic and Republican Central Committees.
