Title: Herman Aufderheide papers, 1933-1949.

Correspondence, campaign materials, delegate lists, resolutions, and other papers of Aufderheide, a New Ulm (Brown County) native who served as secretary to Minnesota governors Floyd B. Olson (1930-1936) and Hjalmar Petersen (1936-1937), and later as state relief administrator. The papers concentrate on patronage, especially in the Minnesota Highway Department, during the administrations of Olson and Elmer A. Benson, and show relationships between the Farmer-Labor Party, members of the Farm Holiday Movement, and other groups. There is also information on the 1938 election; the 1940 presidential campaign, particularly the Independent-Roosevelt-Wallace Committee; the 1940 Petersen gubernatorial campaign; and agitation for a dam and flood control facilities on the Cottonwood River. Correspondents include Joseph A. Poirier, Susie W. Stageberg, Irwin C. Strout, Howard Y. Williams, Irene Welby, and Ray Johnson.
