Collection includes half-tone portraits and directories of women lawyers in Illinois, and articles, correspondence, etc. about them. Most of the biographical sketches appear to have been written by Harte for a chapter on lawyers in a proposed book by Catharine Waugh McCulloch about eminent Illinois women. There is little information in this series or elsewhere about Harte herself.

Title: The William Goodell Family Papers 1780-1892 1820-1878

The Collection consists of correspondence, writings, sermons and addresses, diaries, and biographical material by or about abolitionist editor, writer, and speaker William Goodell (1792-1878), and his two daughters, Clarissa Maria Goodell Frost (1826-1899) and Rhoda Lavinia Goodell (1839-1880). The collection includes over 380 of Goodell's sermons and addresses; correspondence with family, colleagues, and such prominent abolitionists as Gerrit Smith, Lewis Tappan, Theodore Weld and Henry Stanton; and various writings. Papers of Maria Frost include her personal diaries of the years 1874, 1877, and 1879-1884; family correspondence; an unpublished manuscript on the life of Lavinia Goodell; a temperance essay; and an article entitled "Ten Reasons Why Women Should Vote." Lavinia Goodell's papers include 6 personal diaries (1873, 1874, 1876-1880) , correspondence, "The Responsibility of the North for Slavery," and a brief by Miss Goodell presented before the Wisconsin State Supreme Court.
