Hartley, Joseph. Photocopy of a typescript of what was once a published pamphlet, printed at the "Advocate" Job Office in Salem, Illinois, in 1864. The manuscript is a combination of personal narrative and theological doctrine. Hartley references many important events in his life, such as his marriage, religious conversion as inspired by Elder Enos Keith, and his part in founding churches in Little Flock, Sinking Creek, New Hope, and Nine Mile Prairie. The final pages of the manuscript are devoted to an examination of the Book of Revelation, and Hartley's belief that the American Civil War might lead to the coming of the Antichrist.
