The papers chiefly cover the 1928-1930 period during which Joseph fought the local proposed electric power company merger, opposed Judge John L. Rand's candidacy for Oregon Supreme Court justice and had lawyer Thomas Mannix disbarred - and was himself disbarred. Correspondence mainly relates to his candidacy for Oregon Governor. Some correspondence of George W. Joseph, Jr. regarding Julius L. Meier's candidacy, after his father's death.
