Correspondence, chiefly between Harvey Rice and Charlotte Burre prior to their marriage. There is also correspondence with Harvey's mother, Katherine Rice, and other family members. Correspondence includes descriptions of people and events in Kansas City, Missouri, 1912-1919; Tecumseh, Kansas, 1912-1916; Hayden, Ariz., 1914-1919; and Humboldt, Ariz, 1917-1919. Harvey writes about his employment with Ray Consolidated Copper Co., the economic development of Hayden, and mentions labor strikes in 1917, 1918 and 1919. Harvey also relates his experiences on army posts in Kansas, Texas, and Arizona during World War I. He was transferred to the hospital at Whipple Barracks in Arizona due to tuberculosis.
