A volume in which William H. Bell and Samuel P. Bell of New York City entered a few miscellaneous records of the General Theological Seminary of the Protestant Episcopal Church, including a sketch of the Rev. Francis Vinton, and copies of documents, 1775-1825, dealing with the Rev. Samuel Peters' claim to the Jonathan Carver grant. Among the latter are Peters' correspondence with the Carver heirs and agents for the estate in England and New England, petitions to Congress, a journal of Peters' expedition to Prairie du Chien in 1817-1818, with a few original letters, and a manuscript map describing Captain Carver's plan for travel to the Upper Mississippi in 1766.

A collection of letters and supporting documents submitted by Peters and his uncle Samuel as part of the case to obtain reimbursement for losses resulting in the confiscation of loyalist property. Included are letters and memorials to members of the House of Lords detaining Peters' case; muster rolls and returns of the Queen's Loyal Rangers; correspondence with John Burgoyne regarding the case; and lists of men who served with Peters in the Saratoga Campaign. Many of these returns indicate whether the men were killed, wounded or captured.
