Topics of the correspondence between Huebsch and Werfel are publishing matters concerning Werfel's works, including sales; promotion; permissions; film and dramatic rights; and translations. A significant portion of correspondence concerns Werfel's novel The Song of Bernadette, especially with respect to sales and promotion (including the types of editions to be produced and book-club arrangements). 1 letter from Werfel to Huebsch is his heartfelt recommendation of the mansucript of Alexander Granach's novel Da geht ein Mensch; Huebsch responds in detail, about the lack of prospects for the book vis-à-vis the American audience. 1 draft item from Werfel expresses his frustration over what was apparently a disheartening reaction from Huebsch about the manuscript of (as it turned out) his last novel, Stern der Ungeborenen.
