Album consists of 73 carte-de-visites (CDVs) and 2 black and white prints documenting the Canfield and Hopkins families during the 1870s. Most of the photos are identified. Included are Thomas Canfield, Caroline Canfield, Mrs. Clement Hopkins, Eli Chittenden, and several of the Canfield's young children. A couple of the photos document gravestones at St. James Church in Arlington, Vermont. There are also a few photos of museum artwork and hand-drawn cards located in the back of the album.

It can't be determined who this individual is. But, it is possible that this is Thomas H. Canfield.

The Thomas H. Canfield Papers, 1842-1932, are made up of Canfield personal and business papers as well as some correspondence and documents concerning the Episcopal Church in Vermont. The majority of the collection is papers representing Canfield's many business interests ranging from his early activity in the mercantile field to his involvement in the railroad industry, particularly the Washington and Rutland Railroad and the Northern Pacific Railroad Company, and finally to his farming and agricultural business in Lake Park, Minnesota.
