39 letterpress ALS sent by Wilbur to Taylor in Houston concerning the formation of a beef shipping business. Wilbur sends Taylor money, settles the method of shipping (via Galveston to New York City), and discusses meatpacking, insurance, prices, and the viability of foreign markets. 4 ALS from William H. Masters to Jeremiah Wilbur in 1871 concern his experience in Hearne, Texas and his work on the Houston Tap Railroad. A letter dated August 30, 1871 carries a particularly detailed description of Hearne. Indenture made in 1858 between the Houston Tap and Brazoria Railway Company of Texas and Jeremiah Wilbur and Daniel Drake Smith of New York. Wilbur and Smith loaned the Railway approximately $30,000 for which the Railway put up 300,000 acres of land in Texas. Accompanied by a copy of a contract between James Jackson and the agents of the Houston Tap and Brazoria Railway Company, dated 1858, to purchase a locomotive.
