Papers consist chiefly of correspondence to Zavala from Santa Anna,Mexía, other prominent Mexicans and others, as well as some of Zavala'scorrespondence and later materials about Zavala and his family.

Henry Raguet (1796-1877), a Pennsylvania native, came to Texas in 1833, operating a mercantile business in Nacogdoches and engaging in land transactions. Following his retirement, two of his eight children, Henry W. Raguet (1824-1862) and Charles M. Raguet (1832-1903), continued in the family business. The collection contains correspondence, legal documents, financial documents, and printed material associated with several family members.
