Correspondence, family records, and other materials related to the life of Robert Weinberg and other members of his family. Series I. Family Papers (n.d., 1834-1984) includes materials related to family members of Weinberg. Included in this section is a scrapbook belonging to Leonard Weinberg, family trees, programs, invitations, birth, marriage and divorce documents, correspondence, and other memorabilia from the Weinberg family. Among the family members included are Leonard Weinberg, A. Ray Katz, Beatrice Lansburgh, Sidney Lansburgh, Ruth Weinberg, Henry Weinberg, Kenneth Weinberg, Abraham and Theresa Weinberg, Charles K. Weinberg, and Anita Weinberg. Series II. Robert L. Weinberg Papers (n.d., 1923-1990) contains all papers relating directly to Weinberg. Subseries A. Youth (1923-1940, 1990) contains papers relating to his years through high school. This subseries includes information about his birth, circumcision, bar mitzvah, grammar and high school, and summer camp. Materials dating from 1990 are those relating to reunions of the schools and camps he attended as a child. Subseries B. Higher Education (1940-1988) includes materials from his time spent in undergraduate programs at the College of William and Mary and the Johns Hopkins University. It also includes materials related to his education at the University of Maryland School of Law. Information regarding fraternities is included because of their association with the institutions attended by Weinberg. This subseries also includes information relating to various class reunions. Subseries C. Military Career (1943-1947, 1977) covers the time Weinberg spent in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. It includes official paperwork, military manuals, programs, tickets and other memorabilia from his time spent serving in England, and correspondence from his time in the Army. Subseries D. Legal Career (n.d., 1940-1993) includes correspondence conducted while working for Weinberg & Green, case notes, clippings regarding his service, information about law classes he taught, and his associations with various professional organizations. Subseries E. Public Activity (n.d., 1932-1993) is organized chronologically by earliest sub-subseries, but alphabetical within each sub-subseries. The three sub-subseries are: Sub-subseries I. Clubs and Organizations (n.d., 1948-1992); Sub-subseries II. Politics (n.d., 1950-1989); Sub-subseries III. Jewish Communal and Civic Organizations (n.d., 1932, 1950-1993). Sub- subseries I includes information about the clubs and organizations to which Weinberg belonged or supported. Sub-subseries II includes flyers, correspondence, and other information relating to specific candidates or issues important to Weinberg. Sub-subseries III includes material relating to various local and national Jewish communal and civic organizations to which Weinberg belonged or that he supported. Subseries F. Personal (n.d., 1830-1994) contains materials relating to Weinberg?s personal life and interests. This subseries is organized chronologically by earliest sub-subseries, but alphabetical within each sub-subseries. The two sub- subseries are: Sub-subseries I. Collected Works (n.d., 1830-1994); and Sub-subseries II. Life (n.d., 1941-1995). Sub-subseries I contains materials collected by Weinberg that reflect his personal interests. These include newspaper clippings, articles, and other ephemera that reflect his interest in local and national history. All materials in this sub-subseries are secondary source materials and were not created by Weinberg. Sub-subseries II includes materials not represented in other subseries within this collection, primarily personal materials from his adulthood that do not reflect his military or legal careers or the organizations and issues to which he dedicated his time. Included in this sub-subseries is information regarding his marriages, personal correspondence, articles he wrote for the Baltimore Sun, a resume, and copies of speeches.
