The collection consists of photographs, negatives, and contact sheets that document the first decade of Hostos Community College s forty year existence and the South Bronx neighborhood during the period. The collection portrays the community coming together and engaging in political demonstrations, arts and cultural events, athletics and physical activities, academic lectures, and other educational events. The images found in the collection were the result of Professor Magda Vasillov s professional activity as a photographer, art historian, and member of the Hostos faculty.

The collection documents the careers of Hispanic artists who applied to have their work exhibited at MoCHA. Detailed files were kept on each artist as a resource for curators, art dealers and art historians to reference and research. Artist files consist of examples of art work in various formats, including: slides, photographs, exhibition catalogs, and flyers. Also included are artist resumes, biographical write ups, newspaper clippings, and all correspondence with the museum. The collection also offers insight into the museum's operational activities. Detailed administrative files were also maintained, which include accounting ledgers, receipts, budget proposals, grant applications and correspondences with collaborating museums, galleries and institutions.

The Gerald Meyer Collection materials spans Meyers professional career from 1969-2006. The bulk of the material is composed of documents dating 1980 through the 1990s and includes correspondence, meeting minutes, course materials, flyers/announcements/posters, Hostos publications and his personal manuscripts. Also significant in this collection are the original records containing clippings, letters, announcements, writings, publications and photographs that document the three major mobilizations to acquire more space and to save Hostos during the 1970s.
