Many items document the extensive landholdings of Philip Winebiddle and his granddaughter, Susanna Winebiddle Brown Baum, in the Friendship, Garfield and East Liberty sections of Pittsburgh and Erie, Pa. Notable items include letters of James Scott Negley and William Cunningham Winebiddle on their experiences in the Mexican War ; Lafayette Winebiddle's rolls of the Allegheny County Light Dragoons ; letters and newspaper clippings concerning the death of William Y. Brown and the 1858 explosion of the steamboat Pennsylvania ; family letters and other material from the estate of Robert Burns King ; and letters and scrapbooks of Kate Johnston Baum Shillito. The collection includes genealogical information on the Baum, Becker, Croft, Kohler, Roup, Sheets, and Winebiddle families.
