The Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America was founded in 1949 to encourage interest in rare books and manuscripts and to maintain the highest standards in the antiquarian book trade; it promotes exhibitions of books and related materials, and lectures on subjects of interest to book collectors; members engage in the sale, purchase, and appraisal of antiquarian books and manuscripts. The Southern California chapter encompasses the area from Santa Barbara to San Diego.
