Three manuscript documents: Slaughter's commission as Surgeon in the 5th Regiment Indiana Militia, signed by Colonel Hiram C. Boon Sep 27, 1817, a receipt signed by William Hendricks, made out to Dr. Slaughter, and a pension application of Harraway Owen, a Revolutionary War veteran, who appointed Slaughter his attorney in 1833 to collect his pension.

Title: Series III : Collected papers on Indiana history, 1759-1882.

Series III contains materials Porter collected to write a history of Indiana. Included are the papers of Benjamin Parke, John Dumont, Charles Dewey, and Samuel Merrill, and materials on Vincennes and early Indiana. Parke's papers include his correspondence with James Brown and discuss Aaron Burr and the Burr Conspiracy, Republican politics, and James Wilkinson. Dumont's papers include correspondence while he served in the Indiana House, and a number of speeches. Dewey's papers are mostly from his years as U.S. District Attorney and focus on his official duties. Merrill's papers deal mainly with his tenure as president of the Indiana State Bank and the Madison and Indianapolis Rail Road Company. The remaining papers deal with Vincennes and early Indiana. Other topics include Samuel Baird's surveys of Vincennes and a summary of speeches made by William Henry Harrison in 1802 at his first Indian Council.

von Schweinitz, Ludwig David. Ludwig David von Schweinitz papers, 1827-1858.

Title: Ludwig David von Schweinitz papers, 1827-1858.

This collection contains von Schweinitz's account of the trip from North Carolina to Indiana in German with English translations. It also contains a copy of Martin Hauser's journal and church records from the Moravian church in Hope, Indiana. There is a mention of William Hendricks taking von Schweintiz to a revival meeting in Madison, Indiana.
