Topics in the family correspondence include the medical and pharmaceutical practice of Solomon Henkel, the Henkel Press and requests for religious publications, the post office at New Market, the Lutheran Church particularly organizational matters, conferences and synod business, financial and land transactions and family news. Correspondence of the Henkel Family Association concerns the Hinkle's Fort monument and a memorial to John Justus Henckel. In addition there are minutes of the Henkel Memorial Association, minutes and other papers of the New Market Academy, genealogical material on the Henkel, Conrad, and Keyser families and especially on the immigrant Anthony Jacob Henkel, photographs of Henkel family members, homes and monuments, and printed articles on Henkel family members and the Lutheran Church including an 1821 pamphlet by David Henkel against the formation of a general Lutheran synod.
