Benjamin Garden's correspondents includes letters (1779, 1780) from Governor Rutledge (concerning Garden's regiment; 1779, 1780), his plantation overseer (concerns the plantation and slaves, 1789), Margaret Adger (Smythe), William Freeman, William Freeman, Jr., Alfred Huger, William J. Rivers, and others. Estate records list (1790) land, slaves, and property at Fairfield Plantation sold from the estate of Benjamin Garden, Garden's will (1789), and inventories (1801) of his slaves at Chessy, Richfield, and Bluefield Plantations and at Hilton [Head Island] (S.C.). Legal documents include land and marriage records, accounts, wills, resolutions, a bond, a bill, and a receipt of Alexander Garden, Isaac Mazyck, Benjamin Garden, Amelia Godin, Robert Pringle (1702-1776), and Benjamin Garden Pringle. A bill of sale (1845) from Robert Alexander Pringle (b. 1819) to Sarah Maxwell Pringle is for two slaves (a cook and a coachman). Accounts of Robert Alexander Pringle (b. 1819) are with Fraser Trenholm & Co. for a shipment of cotton and with John Fraser & Co. (1864) for the sale of cotton.
