This large collection (three folders, 1 binder, twenty 12.5 x 15.5 x 10-inch boxes, seventeen 5 x 15 x 10-inch boxes and nine 2.2 x 15.5 x 10-inch boxes) consists of the papers, notes, research notes, sketches, photos and personal and professional correspondence of Arminta Neal, exhibit designer for the Denver Museum of Natural History (now the Denver Museum of Nature & Science). Dates on the materials span her years of employment at the museum (1950-1982) and extend beyond them, to 1995. The papers include notes on specific exhibits for the DMNS; papers and publications relating to the exhibits, including Pueblo pottery, North American mammals, and exhibit planning; outlines for handbooks; "Clearing House for Western Museums"; notes for various projects, including the UNESCO Nigeria project; AAM and AASLH committee meetings and publications; floor plans of and correspondence with various museums around the country and workshop notes from various locations. The collection also includes such personal items as her honorable discharge from the armed services and medals and awards from various organizations. The collection also contains copies of her publications and correspondence with the Pruett press regarding the publication of her book, Help! For the Small Museums: A Handbook of Exhibit Ideas and Methods. Both books can be found in the collection of the Alfred M. Bailey Library & Archives at DMNS.
