The papers contain typed manuscripts of Thomas Caplan's "Parallelogram"; Brad Gooch's "Scary kisses"; "Last of the night" by Sydney Lea; and page proofs of Ehud Havazelet's "The only thing you've got" (retitled "What is it then between us?"). In addition there are two title pages and a dust jacket for "What is it then between us?" and correspondence from publishers asking Beattie to comment on the works of numerous writers including Diane O'Hehir and Marguerite Duras.

Flood Editions was founded by Michael O'Leary and Devin Johnston in 2001 and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2003. Based in Chicago, it is an independent press with the goal "to become one of the premier American publishers of new writing." The Flood Editions Records contain drafts, manuscripts, proofs, designs, cover art, artwork, reviews, announcements, correspondence, and photographs.
