Title: Buffalo Bill letters to Clarence W. Rowley, 1911-1916.

Thirty-nine letters from Buffalo Bill to his attorney, Clarence W. Rowley of Boston, Massachusetts. The letters, dated between 1911 Sep 7 and 1916 Oct 2, document Buffalo Bill's constant touring schedule and financial struggles during the five years prior to his death. Cody makes reference to troubled investments, his finances, and the conditions of his tour with the Sells-Floto Circus as well as with the 101 Ranch Wild West show. Many of the letters enclose official route cards, listing destinations and dates for the tours. Four additional route cards, including a handwritten schedule for the Sells-Floto Buffalo Bill show and Official Route Card No. 8 for Buffalo Bill (Himself) and the 101 Ranch Shows combined, are present. Two of Cody's letters, one dated 1912 May 9 and one dated 1912 July 28, were enclosures in letters, not present, from Jack Burgess. The collection also includes a letter, dated 1912 July 22, from Andrew Pancrazi, manager of the Hotel Modesti in Arizona, to William F. Cody, regarding a debt owed by the Montezuma Oil Co.; a typescript letter to Rowley from Cody's protegé Johnny Baker, dated 1912 Sep 23, concerning the High Jinks mine in Arizona; and a typescript letter to Rowley from Owen W. Doud, dated 1916 Oct 10, which references one of Rowley's cases as well as a wreck involving Buffalo Bill's show on the Virginian Railroad. A color photocopy of a black and white photograph of Rowley and Cody, and a color photocopy of the caption on the verso of the original photograph: "Photo taken at Camp Bonito, 9 miles from Oracle, Arizona, Dec. 1, 1911" are present.

Abstracts used to create the town of Watchorn; named for Robert Watchorn of Ardmore, Indian Territory and California.
