Family papers, 1895,1967, undated, consist mainly of the papers of Harriet M. Huebel, with some materials of her sister, Frances I. Huebel, and Herbert (Harry) E. Hubel, who was possibly their nephew or cousin. Frances Huebel's papers include her notes from a Traverse City (Mich.) High School cooking class (domestic science), 1910, scrapbook, 1917, and diary, 1915. Harriet Huebel's papers include her nursing diplomas, 1915; correpsondence, 1895,1959, undated; and paperwork and diary, 1918-1919, when she served as a U.S. Army nurse in France during World War I. The diary records her sailing to and from Europe, work, and social activities. She left for Europe in Nov. 1918 and returned in July 1919. There are also many photographs, 1912-1959, mainly of Harriet and nurses, at Peterson Hospital (Ann Arbor, Mich.), later called Ann Arbor Private Hospital, in France, aboard ship en route to or from France, of army hospital staff and patients, views of life and people in France, and a 1931 banquet for World War nurses of the American Legion in Detroit. There are additional photographs of family and friends, as well as Harriett's nursing notes and tests, her hat and pins, biographical materials, and retirement papers. There are also some early 20th century family holiday greeting cards and correspondence between family and friends, 1906-1918, undated. Also included are oversized diplomas for: Harriet from Peterson Hospital (1915); Frances from Traverse City Public School (1912); and Harry from Central State Teachers College, now Central Michigan University (CMU) for a B.S., (1931) and Wayne State University (1944) for a M.A. in Education.
