Title: Herman Kurz collection, 1923-1948.

Collection mostly contains ephemera and photographs from Dr. Kurz's tenure at FSCW/FSU. A newspaper clipping from the Chicago Sunday Tribune titled "Retiring plant authority once Chicago barber" (May, 6, 1956), is included. Students and faculty included in photos are Ruth Schornherst, Helen Tew, Marjorie Terrill, Catherine Davis, Dorothy Crownson, Dr. William J. G. Land (from the University of Chicago), William Hugh Stickler, Rollin Stevens, Mary Hood, Betty Linthicum, Ezda Deviney, Henry Stevenson, Betty Barker, Olivia Embry, Florence Evers, Rose Kurz, Marlene Schwab, Hazel Sangster, Grace Madsen and Roland McMillan Harper. Most photos were taken during botany field trips, visiting areas such as Natural Bridge and Lake Iamonia in Florida. There are also a few photos of the FSCW baseball team.

Collection contains items and memorabilia related to Elizabeth and Katharine Autrey's student years at Florida State College for Women. Material includes photographs, newspaper clippings, booklets, books, certificates, correspondence, forms, lists, name cards, napkins, newsletters, patches, plaques, postcards, programs, receipts, jewelry and ticket stubs. Box 1 contains 15 memorabilia and/or jewelry items associated with the Spirogira honorary society and FSCW in general. Box 2 contains 5 framed certificates given to Elizabeth Autrey from the Varsity Club and the Association for Health-Physical Education-Recreation. Box 3 contains photographs, various forms of print memorabilia, the Katharine Autrey Scrapbook and the Buddy Autrey Photo Album. Photos of people include several students from the classes of 1933, 1934 and 1935, Dr. Edward Conradi, Governor Doyle Carleton, and Chief Justice Rivers Buford. Other photos are of various FSCW sports teams; FSCW buildings including Dodd Hall, Eppes Hall, Gilchrist Hall, Bryan Hall, Reynolds Hall, Murphree Hall and Broward Hall; Camp Flastacowo and Camp Frances Archbold activities; organizations including F-Club, Spirogira, Esteren, Junior Minstrel Club; FSCW sorority houses; the Presbyterian Conference; Governor David Sholtz's inaguration ceremony and parade. Newspaper articles include: "The 'Dining Room Girls' of FSCW" (October 1997), "The presidents of Florida State University" (April 1997), "Retired librarian at FSU dies" (Mar. 7, 1963), "Esterens 'Even' taps seventeen girls at Florida State College" (undated), and "Freshmen learn rites of Odd-Even tradition" (undated). Programs include "The junior class presents 'Micro-Mania'" (Feb. 29, 1936), "Torch Night ceremony" (undated), "Ye odd spirits present 'An Odd Murder Mystery'", (Nov. 26, 1935) and "Ceremony of Investiture" (Oct. 11, 1938).
