Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of 22 original poems, verse translations, and epitaphs, almost all dated. The first poem in the collection is addressed to "Mrs. Herring" and describes the poems in the collection as "Buds of Pindus wait[ing] to greet your Hands." The next, and earliest, entry is a poem titled "The Dove" and annotated, "This was a school exercise made in the year 1737." Other entries include "The Death of the Lark," "To William Brooke M. D. at Field-Head in Yorkshire," "To His Grace the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury. On his Sickness & Recovery. June 25. 1753," "An irregular Ode" which parodies a passage in Milton's "Paradise Lost," and an epitaph "on Mr. Laycock, a hopeful young Gentleman, who (as it is said) died for Love."
