These papers of Fogg Art Museum Director Edward Waldo Forbes document his administration of the museum and a wide range of personal and professional activities and interests. The bulk of the collection dates from 1909 to 1944. The papers consist primarily of correspondence, including a series of correspondence with art dealers, and also include photographs, reports, expedition field notes and journals, printed material, newspaper clippings, blueprints, meeting minutes, letters of recommendation, insurance records, invoices, page proofs, telegrams, rubbings, sketches, visiting cards, shipping documents and press releases.

These papers of Harvard Fine Arts professor and museum director Arthur Pope document his administration of the Fogg, Germanic and Semitic Museums from 1945 to 1948, as well as his teaching, research and publication activity over several decades. The papers consist primarily of correspondence and also include memoranda, printed material,photographs, lecture transcripts, calling cards, reports, fabric samples, exhibition wall text and labels, drafts of published work, preparatory notes for class lectures and page proofs.

Hamlin, Gladys E. Papers, 1944-1986.

Collection includes biographical material, clippings, class notes and papers written during her studies at Columbia University (1931-1937), master's thesis, tour itineraries, photographs for her book The sculpture of Fred and Mabel Torrey, publications and atlases prepared by the American Commission for the Protection and Salvage of Artistic and Historic Monuments in War Areas (known as the Roberts Commission) as well as articles written by Hamlin on the work of the Commission, and lantern slides of art treasures being protected during WWII.

Sumner McKnight Crosby papers, 1937-1977

Title: Sumner McKnight Crosby papers 1937-1977

Correspondence, minutes of meetings, and reports documenting Crosby's Yale-related work, and his service on various commissions on the arts outside of Yale. The papers record his activities as chairman of the History of Art Department (1947-1953, 1962-1965), as advisor to the Audio-Visual Center, and as curator of Medieval Art at the Yale Art Gallery. His membership on commissions to preserve works of art damaged in World War II, and to foster international exchange programs in the arts is shown through the memoranda and publications of these groups. Among these groups are the American Commission for the Protection and Salvage of Artistic and Historic Monuments in War Areas, the American Council of Learned Societies, the American Federation of the Arts, the College Art Association, the United States Advisory Committee on the Arts, and the United States National Commission for UNESCO. There is very little material on his major scholarly contribution, namely the excavation of the Abbey of St. Denis. His correspondents include James S. Ackerman, Jean Bony, André Chastel, Henri Focillon, Theodore Sizer, Whitney Snow Stoddard and Denys Sutton.
