Saying he will call on Mr. Howard and asking the recipient to explain how the representatives of Linley's late father [i.e. Thomas Linley] "can be responsible for any claims appertaining to the old [Drury Lane] Theatre," saying that they all agreed to sign over their right and title to Mr. [Richard Brinsley] Sheridan in 1800, further discussing some questions that have arisen concerning the validity of that contract, saying that until certain documents are signed and monies received "we are safe from all risque," etc.

Collection of letters exchanged between members of the Ward family and their friends, including Charles William Ward, Edward Ward, members of the Linley family, Sir Thomas Lawrence, and William Wilberforce. The letters primarily discuss financial difficulties, especially the financial entanglements of the Ward family arising from the contested estate of Charles William Ward's mother. Several letters to Richard Brinsley Sheridan accuse him of failing to do justice to the Wards' claims to property held by him, and a letter by Ozias Thurston Linley alludes to Sheridan's obstruction to the Wards' recovery of theatrical property. Other letters contain routine social correspondence, including those written by Mary Linley and Elizabeth Pickell.
