Correspondence includes letters from John Leslie to William Panton concerning shipments and prices of goods, an Indian raid led by William Bowles on a store owned by Panton, Leslie and Company, and the hiring of additional employees including John Innerarity. Financial matters discussed in letters include accounts of Panton, Leslie and Company, shipments of goods, purchases and sales of slaves by John Innerarity and his brother James for a plantation in Georgia, the trial of individuals connected with William Bowles, and the succession of Henrietta Innerarity, John's sister. Letters relating to Innerarity's French consular service (1835-1853) discuss land claims in the Floridas, political appointments, the activities of Andrew Jackson, and the Mexican War. Other issues discussed include personal financial matters, the slave trade, foreign sailing vessels, and a yellow fever epidemic in Mobile, Alabama (1834).

Henry Wilson, U.S. Army, who was with General Winfield Scott during the Cherokee removal and also during the Mexican War; correspondence (after Hulse's death) of Hulse's wife, Mrs. Melanie Innerarity Hulse, and daughter, Emma Hulse Taylor; records of land claims and titles, particularly of the Apalachicola Lands of the Forbes Co., which were involved up to and during the suit's pathway to the U.S. Supreme Court; records of Nicoll's Affair during the War of 1812 and claims made against the U.S. for reparation of the Barrancas property.
