The Mary Harriman Rumsey collection largely consists of photographic prints and lantern slides documenting the Harriman Expedition to Alaska in summer 1899. These depict members of the expedition and Alaskan scenery and people. The collection also includes scenic photographs of Alaska taken by Dora Keen in 1914 and photographs of Blackfeet, Hopi, Apache, and Suquamish Indians made by Edward Curtis in 1900 and 1903.

Century Company records

Title: Century Company records

The Century Company published the Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, which was widely regarded as the best general periodical of its time, performing a role as cultural arbiter during the 1880s and 1890s. It was founded in New York City in 1881 and also published the children's magazine St. Nicholas, dictionaries, and books. The Century Company records date from 1870 to the 1930s and chiefly contain correspondence with contributors, readers, public figures, and literary agents. A number of manuscripts and proofs in the collection are extensively edited and taken with annotations on letters provide a detailed record of the outlook, standards, and functions of the company.

The Dora Keen photograph collection consists of photographs from Keen's first attempt to summit Mount Blackburn. Images include panoramas of Mount Blackburn, views of Mount Reynolds, glaciers, members of the climbing party, and features of Mount Blackburn. Also included are photoraphs of the Bonanza Mine area. The photographs, which are the work of an unknown photographer, are arranged in the original order of the trip based upon Keen's numbering. Each print includes comments on the back written by Keen. The sequence of images reflects the multiple attempts of Keen's party to reach the summit via various routes.

Title: Alfred Hulse Brooks photographs and papers 1892-1955 1898-1924

Photographs and papers created and collected by Alfred Hulse Brooks and then probably maintained by Philip Sidney Smith, his successor as Geologist in Charge of the Division of Alaskan Mineral Resources of the United States Geological Survey. The collection provides visual documentation of the work of the United States Geological Survey in Alaska. Most of the photographs were made by Brooks and other employees of the agency. Some images document joint surveys made with the Geological Survey of Canada. The photographs depict mining operations, water and rail transportation, frontier communities, and Native American villages. Locations in Alaska well represented in the collection include Fairbanks, Juneau, Kennecott, Ketchikan, Skagway, Valdez, and Wrangell, as well as sites along the rivers, including the Copper River, Susitna River, and Tanana River. Numerous images throughout the collection also document sites in Canada, particularly in British Columbia. Photographs not created by the United States Geological Survey or its employees consist chiefly of images created by commercial photographers, corporate bodies, and government agencies in Alaska, collected principally by Brooks to supplement those created by him and his subordinates. Significant components include photographs related to the Cook Inlet Exploration Expedition under the command of Captain Edwin Forbes Glenn (1857-1926) in south-central Alaska in 1898; trips made by Robert Steed Dunn (1877-1955) in Alaska, 1900-1908; and the first successful ascent of the eastern peak of Mount Blackburn (later called Mount Kennedy) made by Dora Keen in May 1912.

Personal Papers, 1885-1951, consist of correspondence with friendsincluding Marie-Louise Laffont, Janet McLaren, Harry B. Bailey and Dora Keen, other family correspondence, sections on falconry in Scotland, his collection of wines and spirits, notes and memoranda, foreign bills and receipts. The Hoffman Family section includes Margaret Clawson Hoffman's letters to Benjamin, 1915-1932 ; miscellaneous correspondence, 1922-1933; Agnes Hoffman's Incoming Correspondence, 1900-1934; Jessie Hoffman's Incoming Correspondence, 1915-1927 and Hoffman Family Miscellaneous Correspondence, 1898-1927. The Miscellaneous section includes Third Person Correspondence, 1902-1918; passports, European ephemera, train schedules, newspaper clippings, calling cards, photographs and postcards.
