This volume records legal instruments (deeds, wills, plats, land grants) pertaining to John Mercer's lands in Stafford County: Potomack Run, Potomack Creek, Marlborough Town (with plats), Potomack Neck, Pasbytanzie, Occoquon Plantation, Accokeeke; Prince William County: Occoquon, Cedar Run, Four Mile Run, Goose Creek, Bull Run, Seaclin's Branch, Limestone Branch, Red Rock Run, Kittoktan; Fairfax County: Pohick (with plat), Goose Creek (with plat); Spotsylvania County: Barrow's Low Grounds; Frederick County: Shannandoah; Orange County: Shannandoah River. The 50,212 acres on the Shenandoah River had been owned by Landon Carter, George Carter, Carter Burwell, Robert Burwell, Carter Page, Robin Page, Robert Carter Nicholas, Robert Carter, Jr. (son of John Carter), Benjamin Harrison, Jr., and Robert Carter, Jr. (son of Robert Carter, Jr.). Copies of the wills of Col. George Mason and Mrs. Sarah Mason, Stephen Gray, and a clause from the will of Thomas Ballard, all of Stafford County, are included. The documents are transcribed in various hands. An index preceeds the folio pages.
