A manuscript discussing the resettlement of the Iroquois in Canada after the American Revolution. The manuscript can almost be considered a documentary history due to its footnoting and the large (403 pp.) collection of transcripts of documents relating to Indian resettlement. A majority of these documents were transcripted from the Haldemand papers, held by the National Archives of Canada. The manuscript provides a detailed review of official actions regarding Indian resettlement and the questions of land rights as they emanated from the 1785 Treaty of Paris. Also included among the transcriptions are a number of letters by Joseph Brant, John Johnson and Guy Johnson, written during the American Revolution.
