Records consist primarily of account books, some minutes of boards of directors and committees, signature books of Chemical Bank, 1828-1880, and miscellaneous records that document the financial activities of Chemical Bank through its various restructurings. Also included are account books and miscellaneous documents of the many banks acquired by Chemical Bank, and in some cases, records of the predecessors and overtaken banks of the acquired banks. Acquired banks represented are Citizens National Bank of New York, 1851-1920s; United States Mortgage and Trust Company, 1882-1950s; the Continental Bank and Trust Company of New York, 1890-1940s; the National Safety Bank and Trust Company of New York, ca. 1870s-1950s; Bank of Rockville Centre Trust Company, 1890s-1960s; Bensonhurst National Bank of Brooklyn in New York; First National Bank of Mount Vernon; Chemical New York Corporation (holding company); Tappan Zee National Bank; Eastern National Bank; State Bank of Hilton; and the First National Bank of Greenwich.
