The letters concern financial matters, shipments of merchandise such as flour, sugar, and tobacco, and other commercial affairs. Includes 3 letters, 1799-1800, with Arthur Jones of Richmond and Norfolk, Va., as recipient. Also includes an April 21, 1806, court order involving Alexander Love vs several defendants including David Cay ("surviving partner of Andrew Clow & Co.) and Arthur Jones. Includes 2 letters, one from Preston Trotter, "near Waynesborough" to John P. Little, merchant, Fredericksburgh [sic], Va., dated January 10, 1826, and one from R.H. Little, Millwood, Frederick County, Va., to John Gill, Mrcht, Philadelphia, dated June 3, 1831. Includes 1 letter, March 17, 1878, from Dr. J.O.E. Allen, Culpeper, Va., to Mr. Pierce. Includes 82 receipts, 1788-1793, from various Virginia merchants in Alexandria and Fredericksburg to Andrew Clow and Company.
