Of note are papers of Herman Durholz, carriage designer for Brewster & Co. of New York, including sketches and measured drawings of carriage designs, drawings of decorative crests and monograms, notebooks, photographs and catalogs; papers of James Marsh Whitehead, carriage trimmer for Charles Grube Carriage Co., Rahway, N.J., including account books, tools and patterns for upholstery and other trimmings, 1867-1907; drawings and blueprints of James Cunningham Son & Co. of Rochester, N.Y., including working notes and details of hearses, wagons, carriages and accessories, 1890-1910; lesson plans and diplomas of James Stolfi from the Technical School for Carriage Drafting and Construction in New York City, 1909-1913; photoprints from glass negatives of vehicles built by Abbott-Downing Co. of Concord, N.H., including police and fire wagons, ambulances, sleighs and commercial delivery wagons; account books, invoice books, letter copy books, records of notes payable and miscellaneous hand-colored saddle sketches of Smith-Worthington Co. of Hartford Conn., 1822-1876; drawings, blueprints and photos of Henry Hooker & Co., New Haven, Conn.; and carriage designs of Hooper & Co., London, England, carriage maker to Queen Victoria.
