Letterpress copybook, 1891 June 15 - 1903 Oct. 13, indexed, of the railway's outgoing letters, most of them were signed by J.W. Dimmick, but some of them were signed by Edwin L. Calahan. Subjects discussed included the possible sale of the Street Railway property, but not the Terminal property, to a group headed by A.W. LeBron; a later consolidation with the Cloverdale line, business conditions generally, the expansion of the line, the daily operations and overall condition of the railway, as well as the electrification of the line by the Montgomery Light and Power Co. Some resolutions passed by the board of directors are also included in the correspondence, including some refusing to carry freight brought into Montgomery by either the Western Railway of Ala. or of the Montgomery and Eufaula Railway. The street railway sent a significant number of letters to W.M. Brown of Newcastle, Pa.; Henry L. Davis of Philadelphia, Pa.; Hambleton and Co. and R.B. Sperry of Baltimore, Md.; and Ignatius Pollak of N.Y., N.Y.

Most letters are from Davis to his family in Providence, Rhode Island, and describe activities on and off the vessels of the Mississippi Squadron, draft riots in St. Louis, Missouri, conditions at sea, desertion of his fellow seamen, and preparations for the Siege of Vicksburg. His diary (1862-1863) also describes his war activities. A journal (1860-1861) describes his voyage to the coast of Africa and Arabia. Letters to his parents written after his death are from shipmates and fellow officers, including a letter from the wife of Brigadier General Clinton Fisk. The muster roll was captured from the 24th Arkansas Infantry Regiment; the photograph and obituary are of Davis.
