Envelope includes a handwritten copy of a deposition from Samuel Tucker, chief officer of the ship Friendship, pertaining to damage incurred by the ship on its journey from Antwerp to Manilla to Batavia to the Island of Madagascar around the Cape to St. Helena. Bad weather was encountered after leaving Madagascar during which the ship was damaged; additional damage was done during storms encountered before rounding the Cape. Depostion details the damage, ships spoken, and the questions posed by counsel to Samuel Tucker during the depositon. The date of the original deposition was May 25, 1822.
