Include will, 1844, of John Taliaferro, of Essex County, Va.; journal, 1755, of Charles Lewis, describing the march from Fredericksburg to Fort Cumberland, partly under the leadership of George Washington, the fort itself, scouting expeditions, and the results of hostile relations between colonists and the native inhabitants; and letter, 1760, from George Weedon, while at Presque Isle, Lake Erie, to Charles Lewis, about his home and friends in Fredericksburg, Va. Also include correspondence, 1814, between Warner Lewis and his wife Ann, describing his military service on the Northern Neck of Virginia and the advancement of the British; and funeral sermon, 1822, on the death of Ann Lewis. Also include lecture cards, 1777-1779, of John Lewis while studying medicine at Edinburgh University; and commissions, 1784 and 1795, of William Latané, bearing signatures of Patrick Henry and Henry Lee, then governors of Virginia. Also include a copy, October 25, 1815, of the Boston Weekly Messenger; clipping, 1868, excerpting Col. Daniel Morgan's dealings with George Washington, from Custis' Recollections; and a piece of Martha Custis Washington's wedding dress.
