Title: Elsie Foerderer correspondence collection, 1935-1969.

This collection contains the typed and handwritten letters to several important administrators at the Mount Vernon College and some of the carbon copy responses to Foerderer. One of these correspondents was George Lloyd. Lloyd served as Head of the College Division from 1932 to 1962 and President from 1936 to 1962. The collection also contains letters to Lloyd's wife, Olwen Lloyd, who served as Headmistress from 1938 to 1962. In addition to the letters from Foerderer to the Lloyds the collection has carbon copies of correspondence and telegrams from both Lloyds to Foerderer. The other major correspondent found in the collection is Peter Pelham, President of Mount Vernon College from 1962 to 1976) and carbons and handwritten drafts of his correspondence to her. These letters within this collection date from 1935-1969.

Consists of newspaper clippings of articles and engravings. The textual material includes verses, odes, poems, short stories, anecdotes, and advice columns. Illustrations feature busts of historical figures, houses, fish, birds, animals, caricatures, fashion plates, and a depiction of the blowing up of fire ship Intrepid. A few of the engravings are colored. The volume also contains one Pelham print.

This collection contains chapel artifacts, correspondence, legal documents, invoices, newspaper clippings, photographs, notes, and architectural plans, 1931-80. Includes the chapel artifacts from the Mount Vernon Seminary and College and the records of the construction of the Florence Hollis Hand Chapel by Hartman-Cox Architects from 1967-71. Two of the main correspondents are Peter Pelham, President of Mount Vernon College from 1962-1976, and Warren Cox, a partner from the Hartman-Cox Architects firm hired by Mount Vernon College to build the Chapel.

These letters, mostly to Copley, deal with everyday matters, money, portraits, exhibitions, etc. They are two volumes only (vols. 38 and 39) of the 1,450 volumes in this record group at the Public Records Office. This series of Colonial Office papers relating to America and the West Indies (C.O. 5), as a whole, "comprises the original correspondence and entry books of the Board of Trade and the Secretary of State, together with the Acts, Sessional Papers and miscellaneous records arranged under the several Colonies or provinces."
