Discussing the Catalogue of the Library at Gad's Hill (MA 697.1), explaining that the bookplate of his father Charles Dickens appears on the flyleaf of the item since it is a catalogue of his library. Noting that it was probably not prepared during his father's lifetime, but rather by his brother Charles Dickens, Jr. on his inheritance of the library in 1870.

Russell, Mr. S[nelgrove], Mr. Thomas, [Edward Viles?], a bookseller and other unidentified persons Letters to Fleay discuss the order of Shakespeare's plays and many textual matters; there are references to Dr. Appleton, P.A. Daniel, N. Delius, J.W. Hales, Richard Simpson, W.W. Skeat, James Spedding, Tennyson, W.A. Wright and other literary figures. In letters to Browning, Furnivall urges him to publish his wife's poetry in a cheap edition and to write on certain contemporary themes. Also, Fleay's drafts of two letters from himself to Abbott and Fleay's copy of one from Furnivall to Abbott, 1874, (155-157); Fleay's notes on some of the letters to him from Furnivall (115); a letter from W.C. H[azlitt] to Furnivall, July 29, 1869 (133); and a copy of a letter from Horace G. Bowen to Furnivall, March 7, 1890, about the Browning family (158). There are two copies of a printed notice from Furnivall as spokesman for the New Shakespeare Society and one for the Browning Society.

Discussing the Catalogue of the Library at Gad's Hill (MA 967.1), stating that the notes "Lent to H.F.D." inscribed thrice in the catalogue were probably made by his brother, Charles Dickens Jr., to whom the library was bequeathed at Dickens' death, since it was not customary for his father to do so when lending books to Henry Dickens.
