Brush family material includes scattered correspondence of George de Forest Brush and other family members, notes, sketches, clippings, and the family home building files, five scrapbooks, including two on William Robert Pearmain, and numerous photographs of the Brush family, Bowditch, and William Robert Pearmain. There is also correspondence between William Robert Pearmain and his family and artwork by Pearmin.

Parrish, Stephen, 1846-1938. Collection, 1880-1912.

Title: Collection, 1880-1912.

Consists of two scrapbooks and two photographs. The photographs are mounted on the same board; one side depicts Parrish's etching class and the other side shows an artist's studio. The first scrapbook was kept by Parrish and contains primarily newspaper clippings compiled during his years as an etcher. Parrish employed a clipping service, the National Press Intelligencer, to furnish him with the scrapbooks contents. The articles are a mix of exhibition notices, reviews of Parrish's work, biographical sketches, reproductions of his work, and lists of his etchings. They originated from many places in the United States and Europe: New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, London, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Paris, Vienna, etc. The volume also contains one original etching that was used for an invitation to view Parrish's work at the Earle Gallery in Philadelphia in 1887. Finally, several drafts of letters are loosely inserted in the volume, two of which provide Parrish's thoughts on etching. The second scrapbook is made up of Parrish's obituaries, four letters written by him, and a newspaper clipping showing one of his etchings. Letters concern drawing for reproduction, his entry in Art Annual Bulletins for 1905 and 1906, and sending his autograph for Norris' collection.

The Macbeth Gallery records provide almost complete coverage of the gallery's operations from its inception in 1892 to its closing in 1953. Through extensive correspondence files, financial and inventory records, printed material, scrapbooks, reference and research material, and photographs of artists and works of art, the records document all aspects of the gallery's activities, charting William Macbeth's initial intention to lease his store "for the permanent exhibition and sale of American pictures" through over sixty years of success as a major New York firm devoted to American art. The collection measures 131.6 linear feet and dates from 1838 to 1968 with the bulk of the material dating from 1892 to 1953.

Title: Charles A. Platt architectural records and papers, 1879-1981 (bulk 1882-1933).

This collection contains materials related to Platt's personal and professional lives, the bulk originating from Platt's office in the form of project drawings, photographs, and records documenting architectural projects from 1901-1933. Several earlier projects and projects completed by Platt's office after his death are also documented. A small group of drawings was created for publication only, and some drawings may have served as both project records and presentation drawings. The archive also contains typescript transcriptions of correspondence from Platt's travels to Europe in 1879 and from 1882-1886, as well as transcribed letters to his wife, Eleanor Hardy Bunker Platt, and a diary kept during his brief engagement as a member of the Food Administration in Italy after World War I. Additional papers include limited personal and professional correspondence. Lastly, the collection contains original glass plate negatives of photographs of Italian Renaissance gardens taken by Platt and/or his brother William Platt in the spring of 1892. Platt incorporated some of these images in ITALIAN GARDENS, published by Harper in 1894.
