Popova's disjointed memoirs discuss her family and ancestors, artistic and cultural life in pre-revolutionary Moscow, and the emigration in France. Among the people who appear in these memors are Sergeĭ Di︠a︡gilev, Savva Mamontov, Maksim Gorḱiĭ, Serafim Sudb́inin, Mikhail Larionov, and Natalii︠a︡ Goncharova. Also included is a typescript biography (29 p.) of her cousin, Pavel S. Popov (1892-1964), by an unidentified Soviet author. Popov, who married a granddaughter of Lev Tolstoĭ, was the author of "Istorii︠a︡ logiki novogo vremeni" (1960), and taught philosophy at Moscow University. This manuscript touches on his family, education, professional career in the Soviet Union, and, in great detail, his family troubles in the last yeats of his life.

The typescript memoirs discuss her childhood, education, theatrical career, personal life, the 1917 Revolution and the Civil War, and the emigration in Germany in the 1920s. Persons more or less briefly in the memoirs include Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, Konstantin Stanislavskiĭ-Alekseev, Sergeĭ Di︠a︡gilev, Savva Morozov, Mstislav Dobuzhinskiĭ, and Olǵa Knipper. However, the memoirs are chiefly personal in nature, and provide relatively little information on Pavlova's theatrical career or the Khudozhestvennyĭ Teatr in particular. A sizeable part concerns the period of the Civil War and its immediate aftermath (1918-22) in the Ukraine and the Crimea.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files, and printed materials of Zaret︠s︡kiĭ. There are letters to Zaret︠s︡kiĭ from Mstislav Dobuzhinskiĭ, Vasiliĭ Kandinskiĭ, Boris Panteleĭmonov, and Alekseĭ Remizov, and one letter each from Vladislav Khodasevich and Evgeniĭ Zami︠a︡tin. There are also "gramoty" prepared by Remizov for Zaret︠s︡kiĭ. In Zaret︠s︡kiĭ's collected materials in the field of 19th and 20th century Russian culture there are items by such figures as: Sergeĭ Di︠a︡gilev, Sergeĭ Esenin, Mikhail Pogodin, Afanasiĭ Shenshin (Fet), Petr Vi︠a︡zemskiĭ, Maksimili︠a︡n Voloshin, and Andreĭ Zhukovskiĭ. The collection also includes Zaret︠s︡kiĭ's personal and professional correspondence from the 1920's through the 1950's; manuscripts and notes by Zaret︠s︡kiĭ; his personal documents; materials on exhibits arranged by Zaret︠s︡kiĭ on such topics as Aleksandr Pushkin, drawings by Russian writers, and Russian soldiers as authors; and inscribed books by Remizov and Vi︠a︡zemskiĭ.

Most of the collection consists of letters to Golśteĭn; there are some as well to her second husband, Vladimir A. Golśhteĭn. The materials reflect Golśhteĭn's ties to Russian liberalism and populism and also to both French and Russian art and literature. There are groups of cataloged letters from Renʹe Arcos (15), Mykhaĭlo Drahomaniv (52), Andrʹe Fontainas (31), Renʹe Ghil (32), Vi︠a︡cheslav Ivanov (17), Petr Lavrov (49), Vladimir Vernadskiĭ (20), and Maksimili︠a︡n Voloshin (29). There are also items by Jurgis Baltrušaitis, Henri Martin Barzun, Henri Bergson, Ivan Bunin, Sergeĭ Di︠a︡gilev, Paul Fort, Vladislav Khodasevich, Aristide Maillol, and Odilon Redon. Manuscripts are chiefly by Golśhteĭn, and include her memoirs on Drahomaniv. There are also poems by Voloshin and by Konstantin Balḿont. Subject files deal with such topics as the Russian famine of 1891-92 and the Russian Liberation Committee at the time of the Civil War. There is a copy of Golśhteĭn's book, "Serf Life in Russia."
