Addison Beecher Colvin compiled this collection of scrapbooks of newspaper clippings to document his career as a Republican Party politician, government administrator, and banker. Most of the scrapbooks are dated 1894-1898 and report Colvin's activities while serving as New York State Treasurer, his activities relating to the Republican Party in New York State, election campaigns, his unsuccessful bid in 1898 to be named Republican Party candidate for State Comptroller, and meetings of the New York Press Association. Several articles in 1895 report Colvin's support of the Delaware and Hudson Company's application to extend a railway line through a part of the New York State Forest Preserve.

Title: Records of James A. Holden, 1895-1908.

The records consist of correspondence of James A. Holden, much of it concerning the booking of various stage shows, including vaudeville acts, other musical productions, comedies, romances, historical dramas, farces, melodramas, minstrel shows, concerts, and "moving pictures." The main booking agent used by Holden was Julius Cahn of Cahn and Grant: New England Chain of Theatres. Some shows were booked through Klaw and Erlanger. Other booking agents were occasionally used and some shows were booked directly without agents. Holden's letters sometimes describe theater profits and financial agreements with agents. Addison B. Colvin, President of Empire Real Estate and Theatre Company, is mentioned occasionally in the correspondence.

The Biographical Files contain information concerning people and families, mainly in the Glens Falls area, Warren County, Washington County, and the Adirondack Mountain region. The principal type of material in the files is newspaper clippings, many of them obituaries. Some longer articles and pamphlets can be found, along with a few pictures, letters, and other manuscripts (sometimes photocopies of original material). Most of these files are small in size, containing only a few sheets of information. Over 1,900 surnames are represented in the collection, but only small portions of them contain genealogical information contributed by researchers and others.
