Six volumes of financial accounts of David and Frank Arter: two ledgers dating from 1837-1852 for David Arter's general store in Hanover, Ohio, and three daybooks and a ledger of Frank Arter's produce and oil companies in Cleveland, Ohio. Frank Arter's first daybook begins with 1872-1873 accounts of Hussey & Arter, produce merchants, then continue through 1875 with "FAA Accounts" for oil sales. The second and third daybooks record oil business from 1880-1882 and 1887-1889, with 10 pages of the last book documenting Arter's work with and contributions to Methodist-Episcopal Church charities. The ledger, dating 1867-1878, includes accounts of three firms: Murray & Stewart, Stewart & Arter, and Frank A. Arter.
