Papers collected by Charles A. Jones primarily consist of letters to John Jay Jannney and Rebecca Anne Smith Janney. Letters reflect J.J. Janney's diversified business concerns; his political activities as Ohio Secretary of State Samuel Galloway's chief clerk; his work with the Whig, Republican and Union parties in Ohio and the Ohio Monument Association; and his activities for the temperance movement. Letters also document R.A.S. Janney's efforts for the women's suffrage movement.
