General description of the collection: The Halstead-Maus photograph collection covers the military careers of Laurence Halstead, Sr., a graduate of the United States Military Academy (USMA), Class of 1899; Benton Halstead who served in the 69th, 79th, and 197th Ohio Infantry Regiments during the Civil War; Louis Maus, active in the Medical Corps, U.S. Army, from 1874 to 1919; and Marion Perry Maus, USMA, Class of 1874, who was cited for distinguished service against Geronimo and the Apache Indians. Most of the photos are largely of Louis M. Maus, Laurence Halstead, and Marion Perry Maus. There are excellent photos of American Indians during the late 19th century and of Army officers for that same period.
