Series I (.5 linear ft.) contains letters from Voegelin's collegues, who discuss topics of professional interest. Correspondents include Leonard Bloomfield, Kenneth Hale, Eric Hamp, Charles Francis Hockett, C. T. Hodge, Eli Lilly, Morris Swadesh, Douglas MacRae Taylor, Glen Turner, F. M. Voegelin, Erminie Wheeler-Voegelin, John Witthoft, and William L. Wonderly. With the exception of files for Eli Lilly and Douglas MacRae Taylor, files do not contain extensive correspondence. Series II (14.75 linear ft.) contains Algonquian, Blackfoot, Delaware, Munsee, Ojibwa, Menominee, Seneca, Penobscot, and Shawnee vocabularies and grammars along with texts and other field and research notes. Series III (4.75 linear ft.) contains notes, outlines, and drafts of books, articles, and reviews written by Voegelin. This series includes three Native American texts translated by Voegelin: "Shawnee Laws," "Walam Olum," and "Shawnee Episodes." Series IV (1 linear ft.) contains theses, grant proposals, working papers, lectures, and maps. Translations of "Walam Olum" other than Voegelin's are filed here. Series V (1.75 linear ft.) is divided into three subseries. Subseries V-A, Language Notes, contains notes on the Delaware, Hopi, Southern Paiute, and Uto-Aztecan languages. Subseries V-B, Texts, contains transcriptions and translations of brief Native American, particularly Delaware, narratives, songs, tales, and conversations. Subseries V-C, Other, contains notes and clippings regarding Voegelin's research interests. Series VI (3 linear ft.) contains notes on and texts in the languages of the Blackfoot, Delaware, Potawatomi, Seneca, and particularly, the Shawnee and Ojibwa Indians. Series VII (1 folder) contains one photographic print of an inscribed stone.
