Title: Warranty deed, 1863,1866.

Warranty deed on 80 and 16/100 acres of land sold in Brady (Mich.) by Elizur R. Hall and his wife, Sarah A. Hall, to Samuel Fish of Schoolcraft (Mich.) for $1600 on Dec. 4, 1863. A note states that the deed was recorded on Jan. 3, 1866 in Book 21, pp. 46-47 by E.T. Mills, Registrar. The deed was signed by the Halls, R. Bishop, H.A. Baker, and Russel Bishop, Notary Public of Kalamazoo County (Mich.).

This collection is a negative microfilm copy of the records of the First Church of Salem for the period 1629 to 1748. Included are lists of new members (with dates of death or dismission), 1636 to 1744; the covenant of 1629; list of baptisms, 1636 to 1748; records of the settlement of John Higginson in 1660, including a copy of his letter of acceptance; and records of church meetings. The latter contain references to admonitions administered to parishioners by the church, the organization of the Synod of 1662, admission of new members and baptisms performed, and the excommunication of members convicted of witchcraft in 1692. Various ministers kept the records during the period.

This collection of Fiske Family Papers, 1719-1906, includes the following: fragments from the diary of Samuel Fiske (1689-1770), minister of the First Church of Salem, Massachusetts, including one-line entries from 1719 to 1721; correspondence of Oliver Fiske (1762-1837), a Worcester physician, from 1791 to 1836; correspondence of John Fiske (1842-1901), noted author and historian, from 1880 to 1896; correspondence of Waldo Lincoln (1849-1933), from 1892 to 1906, concerning Fiske genealogical information; and miscellaneous undated genealogical notes. The collection also includes a "Narrative of the Conduct of the Rev. Samuel Fiske,..." This fifteen page statement, possibly by Benjamin Lynde ( - ), relates the circumstances of Fiske's call to be minister of the First Church of Salem and the dispute that broke out soon after he was settled regarding the adequacy of his ministerial salary, and the contoversy occasioned by Fiske's refusal to continue to participate with other Salem ministers in the custom of the Salem lecture.
