Title: Board files, 1843-1950 [microform].

The records consist of microfilm copies of the board files made as a precaution during World War II and the Korean War. No attempt was made to correct misfiles or provide target cards during the microfilming. Consequently, the documents within individual files are not in strict chronological order, and some documents are misfiled. The post-1950 board file exists only in hard copy at the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission.

Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines. Records, 1859-1976.

Title: Records, 1859-1976.

The records of P-RSL consist of basic corporate documents, including minute books, annual reports, and the registered document file. The last includes charters, incorporation papers, merger agreements, surveys, equipment and service contracts and documents filed with regulatory agencies covering abandonments of facilities and services. Of particular note are the papers connected with the 1933 merger plan, which include analysis of service levels and maps showing the consolidation and elimination of track and structures. The records document the basic history of the company but do not include records of any of the operating departments.

Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines. Office of Secretary-Treasurer. Secretary's record papers, 1866-1976.

Title: Secretary's record papers, 1866-1976.

The secretary's record papers consist of 249 of about 1,000 individual files registered and preserved by the secretary between 1884 and 1976. They are the company's fundamental legal documents and cover the principal activities of the system over its entire life. The file covers those lines in southern New Jersey controlled by the Reading System after 1884. Similar documents covering the Pennsylvania System lines were kept by the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company as part of its "A" Series file, which is now at the Pennsylvania State Archives. After the 1933 consolidation, the file covers the entire joint property, but corporate documents of the West Jersey and Seashore Railroad Company continued to be maintained by the PRR.
