Business papers and family correspondence of Attmore (1750-1800), merchant of New Bern, N.C.; of his wife, Sarah (Sitgreaves) Attmore (1771- 1843); of their son, George Sitgreaves Attmore (1794-1859), lawyer, and of their relatives in New Bern and in Philadelphia, Pa. Business papers to 1800 relate to Attmore's merchandising and shipping activities at Philadelphia and New Bern; there are numerous bills and accounts, especially 1800-1817, from New Bern merchants, and Craven County, N.C., deeds for real estate. Personal and family letters are addressed chiefly to Sarah from her female relatives in New Bern, 1790-1793, and in Philadelphia, 1801-1843, with occasional ones from other North Carolina towns and from South Carolina. Papers after 1843 are less numerous and are mainly deeds and business papers of William Hollister Oliver (1829- 1908), son-in-law of G. S. Attmore. Also included is a series of apparently unrelated letters of Henry H. Villard, a North Carolina schoolteacher of French parentage. Later items are Attmore family genealogical charts.

Benjamin Robinson Huske and family lived chiefly in Fayetteville, N.C. The collection includes scattered papers of relatives and ancestors of Huske, including the following: late 18th- and early 19th-century papers of the Huske, Attmore, and Strange families, including correspondence; a travel diary and lettercopy books, 1783-1799, of William Attmore, merchant of Philadelphia, Pa., and New Bern, N.C.; and a long patriotic poem written during the War of 1812 by Robert Strange (1796-1854) of Fayetteville, N.C. Also included are family and church correspondence, sermons, and other ministerial records of Joseph Caldwell Huske (1822-1897), rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, Fayetteville, N.C., chiefly 1840s and 1870s-1890s, and military reports and returns of B.R. Huske (son of J.C. Huske) as major of in the North Carolina volunteers in the Spanish-American War.

William Attmore (1750-1800) was a merchant and shipper of Philadelphia, Pa., and New Bern, N.C., who married Sarah Sitgreaves (1771-1843) of New Bern in 1790. They had four children including a son, George Sitgreaves Attmore. The collection includes business papers and family correspondence of William Attmore; of his wife, Sarah (Sitgreaves) Attmore; of their son, George Sitgreaves Attmore; and of their relatives in New Bern and in Philadelphia, Pa.
