Benington, Walter, b. 1872,. Ezra Pound Collection.

Title: Ezra Pound Collection. [ca. 1890s-1965].

Collection consists of images of Ezra Pound from his youth to old age, including a portrait from his college yearbook and scenes from his 80th birthday celebration. Among the works are photographs of Pound with such notable figures as William Butler Yeats, James Joyce, Dorothy Pound, Ford Madox Ford, John Quinn, and Oloff de Wet. The photographs were taken in various locales including Washington, D.C., Wyncote (Pa.), London, Italy, and Paris. Several images are signed by Pound. The collection contains a number of copy prints of works of art, many of which are held by the HRHRC.

Teale, Edwin Way, 1899-1980. Papers, 1799-1995 and undated

Title: Edwin Way Teale Papers undated, 1799-1995

Edwin Way Teale, Connecticut-based naturalist, was the author of thirty-two books. His papers include field notes and drafts for each of his books, early childhood writings, professional writings for magazines, newspapers and book reviews, correspondence- both personal and professional, personal and family documents, scrapbooks, and memorabilia, as well as his photographs (prints, negatives, and transparencies) and his personal library. There is also one box of original John Burroughs material Teale collected over the years.

Arbuthnot, Malcolm, 1877-1967. George Bernard Shaw Collection.

Collection consists of eight boxes and four albums of photographs (various processes represented), spanning the 19th and 20th centuries. A large portion of these images are portraits of Shaw. Other subjects include stills from play productions, actors, and film stills from George Bernard Shaw plays adapted for film. Also included are a number of photographs of Shaw with such notable personalities as H. G. Wells, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Charlie Chaplin, Marion Davies, Clark Gable, Auguste Rodin, and Helen Keller. The images were made by various photographers including Alvin Langdon Coburn, Howard Coster, W. & D. Downey, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Frederick Evans, Yousuf Karsh, Florence Vandamm, and Shaw himself. Three of the albums were assembled by the Ransom Center in Shaw's original groupings. The fourth album was assembled by a Ms. B. L. Lyle, of the Lyles of Westbourne, and it contains ten images of Shaw, and five images taken by him. Taken together this collection of photographs provides an excellent overview of Shaw as both dramatist and man.

Shown are mainly British and American artists, predominantly sculptors. Many of the artists are shown with a work in progress, sometimes also with the sitter of a portrait. Some images are of European artists who were working in New York or London. The artist, subject of the work shown, and other information is included in typescript notes attached to the photographs' versos. The majority of these artists, although acclaimed in their time, are not well known today. Among the executing companies are Keystone View Co.; Wide World Photos; Fox Photos; International News Photos, Inc. and International Illustrations.
