Journals, ledgers, and memoranda books relating primarily to the legal practice of William Jessup and his son William Huntting Jessup of Montrose, Pa. In addition to the Jessup firm records, the account books of several of the clients appear here: Drinker estate, James C. Biddle and Henry Drinker, executors, 1834-1865; Charles Fraser, M.D., 1825-1838; Arthur King Harroun, D.D.S., 1884-1888; George C. Pride, general merchant of Harford, Pa., 1848-1857; Joseph Richards, lawyer, 1835-1854; and Robert H. Rose estate, 1836-1858. As agriculturists and trustees of large tracts of land in Susquehanna County, several of their records concern lumbering and farming, including William H. Jessup's diary of farm work, 1871-1896.

Jessup, Poughkeepsie, to Houghton, telling of Edgar Apgar's role in recognizing the political potentialities of Grover Cleveland; and a diary fragment (1865), Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The records consist primarily of documents collected by President John S. Schultze. They include an inventory of company property (1873), specifications for a ferryboat (1883), and correspondence addressed to Schultze (1879-88) dealing with company finances and the sale to the Reading.
